Admission Of Staff

Using the staff induction policy we can ensure that all staff are aware of their surroundings, roles and responsibilities and nursery policy procedures.

Appropriate Local and National Guidelines will be discussed as part of the induction as well as introduction to the policies and procedures.

Our Recruitment and Selection of Staff policy ensures that staff selection is completed appropriately.

All staff are vetted in the same manner with two references, a PVG check and a Health Deceleration Completed before commencing work.

Staff Roles

Practitioners

Practitioners are qualified in the childcare field. All practitioners hold and HNC, SVQ3, NNEB in Child Care Learning and Development or equivalent.

Each team is lead by a Lead Practitioner who is qualified to SVQ4 or above or undergoing further training

We are lucky in Victoria Park to have a wealth and broad range of experienced staff with qualifications from many fields including social care, montessori and early years. We also have staff qualified with their SVQ4 in Child Care Learning and Development, PDA and their BA Childhood Practice award or working towards it.

The practitioners role is to plan, organise and deliver activities and create learning experiences for a group of children aged between six weeks to five years.

They will work within an anti-discriminatory and inclusive environment and support the team to facilitate the all-round development of all children, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Assistants

Within Victoria Park we believe that young people should be given the chance to develop and enhance their skills within early years.

We provide these young people- normally aged between 17-21 the opportunity to work within our environment and learn the skills of a practitioner.

We use reputable training companies to train these assistants on the job to gain their qualifications in early years.

We have one assistant in each playroom and they are supported and mentored regularly by an experienced staff member who is qualified in their role.

They will shadow qualified staff in their role and work within the same guidelines as qualified practitioners.
